The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) announced the "Accessible University Awards" for the year 2024.

Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University was among the universities awarded the "2024 Spatial Accessibility Award" for its Faculty of Dentistry receiving the Orange Flag in the "Spatial Accessibility" category.

The awards were presented to universities during the "2024 Accessible Universities Award Ceremony" held at the Council of Higher Education, with YÖK President Erol Özvar presenting the awards.

Özvar, in his speech during the ceremony, emphasized the importance of providing necessary adaptations, infrastructure, and equipment to support the participation of disabled students in social and cultural activities alongside their education and training, aiming to promote the creation of an accessible ecosystem within universities. He stated, "Through these awards, we aim to encourage efforts to ensure the full, effective, and equal participation of disabled individuals in higher education, and we are also pleased with the efforts made by our higher education institutions to achieve this goal."

Regarding the matter, ÇOMÜ Rector Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt Erenoğlu stated:

"Our Faculty of Dentistry has been awarded the Orange Flag in the 'Spatial Accessibility' category, which receives numerous applications every year for the 'Accessible University Flag Awards.' It is crucial for us to ensure that our university students have access to education. We are conducting studies and projects to provide disabled students with an accessible educational environment. We congratulate everyone who contributed to this success and hope for similar achievements by our other units."

The "Accessible University Flags" are awarded in three categories: Spatial Accessibility (Orange Flag), Accessibility in Education (Green Flag), and Accessibility in Socio-Cultural Activities (Blue Flag).
