Prof. Dr. Esra ERCAN graduated as the second in her class from Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry in 2005. She earned her doctorate in 2010 by presenting her dissertation in the Department of Periodontology at the same university. Between 2010 and 2011, she worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Periodontology at Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Dentistry, and from 2011 to 2019, she served as a Faculty Member. She was awarded the title of "Associate Professor" in 2018.

In 2014, Dr. Ercan was a visiting scholar at the Department of Periodontology, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Oslo. Since March 2019, she has been serving as a faculty member in the Department of Periodontology at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Faculty of Dentistry. She has supervised doctoral and specialty theses on topics such as “Peri-implantitis and Periodontitis Treatments” and “Periodontal Plastic Surgery and the Use of PRF in Wound Healing.”

Dr. Ercan’s research focuses on platelet-rich fibrin products and their clinical applications in Periodontology and Dental Implantology. She has numerous national and international publications and awards in these fields. She is a member of the Turkish Society of Periodontology (TPD), the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), the Turkish Association of Osseointegration (OSSEDER), and the Accreditation Association for Dentistry Programs (DEPAD). She also serves as a scientific consultant for the Northwestern Medical Journal.
